1952 Topps Baseball Cards

Salvatore (The Barber) Anthony Maglie
Sal started with the Giants in 1945. He then played in the
Mexican League for 4 years before returning to the Giants
for the 1950 season. He earned the nickname "Sal the Barber" for his uncanny
ability to shave the corner of the plate and
also for his habit of shaving the chin of an opposing batter if he thought they were too
close to the plate.
Sal appeared in some of the early '50's Bowman cards, but did not show up on a Topps card
until 1957.
